03. Music tuition information

In addition to the music curriculum the following musical opportunities are available for children. These are run by peripatetic services, however, we have a standardised rate for all music tuition.

Instrumental Lesson Tuition

Please see below for information regarding Instrumental lesson provision with music specialists.

• Lessons will be with a specialist music teacher;
• Lessons are for 20 minutes, with 10 lessons per term, 30 per school year.

The cost of lessons:

• • £165 per term for individual (beginner or Grade 1 and above)
  • £110 per term for a paired lesson (the paired option is for beginners only)
  • £75 per term for group guitar tuition (30 minutes)

Barnes Music Provision, launched in 2018, aims to address underlying inequalities between children eligible for Free School Meals (and when possible, Pupil Premium) and their peers to ensure that all pupils have access to instrumental music tuition at Barnes Primary School. Barnes Music Provision covers a financial commitment from our music tutors and newly additional funding from the Barnes Music Bursary so generously set up by the parents of departing Year 6 pupils in 2021. Pupils who are eligible to access this provision will be contacted on a termly basis by Karen Warner our Music Lead.
