Reading in Nursery
In Nursery, we aim to develop a love of reading through a variety of approaches. Every snack time we share a high-quality text together and revisit these regularly to build up our story telling skills and vocabulary. Throughout the learning environment, there are books to explore and enjoy independently. We actively welcome parents coming in to read to children including in their home language. We particularly love our bespoke book packs for children and parents to share. Each pack has been meticulously put together using high-quality texts and a range of props so that the story can come alive. Each pack has a prompt card to guide families in how to use the pack and options for how the props can be used. We want all families to be excited about sharing books together and for a love of reading to be developed from the moment children start with us. These packs are changed weekly and are incredibly popular. We have recently expanded our offer to include a selection of quality texts with a mathematical focus.
