The Parents, Teachers and Friends Association
The school is incredibly grateful to all those who donate their time, money and other resources to help make the school such a wonderful learning environment.
Why do we have a PTFA?
The Parents, Teachers and Friends Association, the PTFA, is a long-standing home-school association. It is made up of parents and carers whose children attend the school and others who would like to support us. All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved in the PTFA, even if they only have a small amount of time available, and all parents and carers automatically join this body when their child joins the school.
Our association is about much more than simply fundraising. The PTFA exists to provide closer links between home and school and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal.
The organisation has two principal aims:
- to raise additional funds for the school, to supplement the school budget and provide more for the children
- to strengthen the school community by organising events where all members of the community can meet and socialise
All money raised goes directly towards providing resources for the children. It helps us to finance immediate and longer-term goals. We are most grateful for the support of the PTFA and hope that their interest and generosity will continue in the future. The money this body raise makes a significant difference to the provision the children receive.
Role of the PTFA committee
Our PTFA Committee consists of:
Chairman Toi Neibler
Treasurer Nicky Rawcliffe
Trustee – Events McKenzie Klein
Trustee – Events Sam Paget
Trustee – Legal Kate Lowes
The Committee meet on a regular basis with smaller working groups meeting as necessary when planning for larger events.
The Committee also hold open PTFA meetings, any member can come along, find out what the association are planning, share ideas and get involved.
Our Class Representatives play a very important role, providing a link between individual classes and parents, and the PTFA committee. The support from Class Reps is vital when it comes to organising our main events.
We welcome any volunteer help from parents, teachers and friends, and have a growing list of volunteers who commit some of their time to helping the association. Every little helps! If you would like to help us please speak to a committee member, come along to our next meeting or email us at nicola@barnesptfa.org.
How does the PTFA raise money?
PTFA funds are raised through regular donations to the school, in addition to the events that we run.

Ways to raise funds and help the PTFA
Regular donations | Click here to donate |
Just Giving | A monthly or one off donation via JustGiving is a brilliant way to donate to the school. Click here to donate. It is easy to keep track of your donations and Gift Aid adds 25% to your donation, making it an efficient way to raise money. |
Payroll Giving and Matched Funding | Payroll Giving deducts your donations at source, i.e. the donor does not pay income tax on these donations and reduces his/her marginal rate of tax. This means that for every 60p donated by a higher rate tax payer, or 80p donated by a basic rate tax payer, the PTFA receives £1. Many companies that offer Payroll Giving also offer matched funding, i.e. where your employer matches your donations, doubling the amount received by the PTFA. |
CAF accounts | To give via CAF, you will need to open a charity account with CAF from which you allocate amounts across the various charities that you support. You only need to complete one Gift Aid declaration across all of the charities that you support making it easy to use for either regular or one-off donations. If you run your own company, CAF Giving allows your company to donate to a charity directly. |
