Meet the Teachers

Helen Leissle and Jemma Causebrook are our Year 1 teachers.

Helen Leissle gained a BA (Hons.) degree in European Languages and Political Institutions from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1991.  She has lived and worked in France, Italy and Germany, before returning to England to settle and bring up her family.  Once her two children were of school age, Helen decided to enter the teaching profession, studying for a PGCE at St. Mary’s University College, in Twickenham.  Helen joined Barnes in September 2008. For her first four years here she shared a Year 3 class on a job share basis. She became a full-time Year 1 teacher in September 2013. Helen leads on modern foreign languages and is a huge advocate of pupils learning foreign languages.

Jemma Causebrook joined our school in September 2017, with five years of teaching experience under her belt. Jemma attended the University of the West of England in 2008 and graduated with a degree in Primary Education. She joins the school this year, having previously worked in a variety of schools across London and Surrey. Following a sabbatical in her career to travel around Asia she is now part of the Year 1 team, working alongside Helen Lisssle.
